MORTON'S NEUROMA TREATMENT OPTIONS

Morton’s Neuroma

Morton’s neuroma is a common ailment that can befall anyone. It is brought about by several things, including shoes that are too constrictive around the fore foot. High heels and pointed toes are the worst.   As a result, one or more of the nerves in the foot becomes pinched.

Once pinched, the nerve becomes grossly irritated and misshapen. It also worsens over time if not treated effectively with one or more of the following:

  • Cortisone Injections and Oral Non-Steroidal Drugs
  • Modified Athletic Shoes and Supplemental Padding
  • Custom Orthotics for Tennis Players
  • Ice Pack Therapy and Activity Restrictions

In cases that do not respond to conservative treatments outlined above, surgery to remove the portion of the nerve that is enlarged may be needed.  Please contact the Foot Health Team of Dr. Peter F. Gregory, D.P.M. for evaluation and treatment.
